Training emerging and existing leaders
The next CiViC Leadership Project may occur in 2027.
The Sheridan CiViC Project, our flagship program, graduates emerging and existing leaders in Sheridan County fully equipped to identify and mobilize community issues and create real, specific changes.
It is designed for people from diverse sectors of the community including education, nonprofit, healthcare, clergy, retirees, business, elected officials and more.
A commitment to the CiViC Project involves a five-day residential retreat and two full day workshops (one overnight) which will be held during the week a few months later.
There is no cost to attend although contributions are always appreciated.
The CiViC Project has three core values:
- Framing opportunities and challenges
- Building social capital
- Mobilizing resources
Training is provided through:
- Lectures
- Discussions
- Structured activities
- Individualized consultation
- Small group exercises
Delegates learn more about:
- Leadership styles
- Communication skills
- Approaches to dealing with conflict
- Community power
Take their word for it:
“An opportunity of a lifetime. Something that will benefit you for the rest of your life.”
“CiViC has saved the community of Sheridan from being the back-biting, manipulative and non-communicative small-minded town of a rural place, In fact, Sheridan – because of CiViC – has trained about 100 citizen leaders of Sheridan to be inclusive, communicative, networking, open-minded and honest. Wow, What that does for a rural community is amazing!”
“The idea of spending one week away from work and family is a little overwhelming at first but completely worth it. Not only will you learn more about yourself, but you will be taught the tools necessary to become more involved. It is also a nice bonus to have such a strong network of individuals from the community who you can call upon when necessary who have also completed the CiViC Project.”
“The most impactful leadership training and personal development training I have ever participated in. Nearly 10 years later I still use the knowledge I gained and connect with other CiViC graduates (personally and professionally) on a daily basis.”
“Best leadership training ever. Wonderful networking and I developed many new and meaningful relationships.”
“The curriculum, organization and professionalism of the CiViC Project are spot-on! You evaluate your own skill-set, enhance your ability to work efficiently with others, and learn a great deal about community leadership. It is amazing what can happen when you share a common language with other friends, peers and colleagues. I participated in and saw magic happen again and again as a result of the CiViC Project and CVC.”
